Frequently Asked Questions

How much is it to book a presentation?

GAP is a non-profit program, so each presentation booking is free of charge.

How long does a session with GAP last?

The best part about GAP presentations is that they are flexible to fit your schedule. Typically, our presentations last an hour, or a standard high school class period.

Is equipment needed for a presentation?

Our coordinators use PowerPoint presentation slides for each presentation. We ask that you provide an internet connection and a screen projector that has a USB compatibility feature.

Can I request for the presentation to focus on one topic?

Yes! GAP provides age-specific presentations to grades 3 to 12 on screen time, video games, social media, and of course, gambling! In the younger grades, we focus on the impact of screen time, which includes video games and social media, and how it affects our well-being. As we move into the older grades, we include more information on how video games, social media, and gambling can affect our mental health, the connection between mental health and addiction, and how people can play safe and access help if needed. The beauty of our presentations is that we can adjust them to be student-focused or family-focused. Parents and guardians are always welcome to attend a GAP presentation in their child’s classroom if they wish!

Who funds the GAP program?

We get our funding through the Community Initiatives Fund, which receives funding from Casino Regina and Casino Moose Jaw.

I don't gamble, play video games, and/or use social media. Why am I here?

Learning about the risks of problematic use of gambling, video games, and social media is important because there will likely be a time where you or someone you care about will need support when it comes to managing their habits. Becoming aware of the risks helps prevent these issues for yourself and where you can find additional support.

What is problem gambling?

Problem gambling is gambling behaviour that is harmful to a person or their family, and will often impact their daily life, career, and relationships in a negative way. Anyone who gambles can be at-risk for developing a gambling problem. Gambling disorder is a recognized mental health diagnosis.

What is the legal age to gamble in Saskatchewan?

The legal age to gamble in Saskatchewan is 19.
